Work Place Evangelism
Evangelism at the work place may be the most difficult, yet the fastest way of reaching out to your colleagues, superiors and subordinates. It is difficult because you may not want to offend your boss, or you may not want to be seen as a fanatic; or you may not want to mix religion with your job. Though it may seem difficult yet it is one of the quickest ways of reaching out to people who are in the same profession with you. The opportunities to reach out to others out of your work place may be minimal; for example, a Christian whose friends are only Christians may not have the opportunity of relating with the unbelievers so as to witness to them. But at the work place, you must interact with them in the normal course of duty.
The first step towards being able to freely witness to people at the work place is for you to make them see you as a born again Christian from onset. That means, you live out the life of a true child of God. Once they notice this, they may start calling you a pastor; and when they need some spiritual counseling, they may come to you. This will give you the confidence of saying some things about the truth which you might not want to bring up during your normal discussion. Again, someone may jokingly tell another not to do something because Pastor is around. This would be an opportunity to open your mouth and say some truth about God. Again, knowing that you are a child of God would make them not to see it as being strange when you preach the gospel of your heavenly Father.
It is easier ministering to your subordinates than your superiors. It may also be difficult ministering to your peers especially when all your discussions have never been tailored towards religion. In such a situation, bringing up a religious talk may be difficult. However, if you bring up discussions that have to do with rights and wrongs, you may be able to bring up the bible’s standard. Nonetheless, as Christians, we should pray more for the souls of men because salvation belongs to God. Much more of praying than talking will bring the miracle. If you continue pumping the word every moment, they may start avoiding you, so, do more of praying so that the little you say may have impact. And never be discouraged even if it seems none has responded to the call of salvation. Yours is to plant the seed, it is God that giveth the increase. You can ask God for wisdom to minister to your boss, especially if he is not the type that comes down to the level of his staff. If he is the type that comes down to the level of his staff, there may be avenues whereby unofficial discussions may ensue, and at such times your discussion may at one time or the other lead to you witnessing to him.
All that have been written above only give some clue towards witnessing; the ultimate wisdom to do it comes from God, therefore seek the face of God at all times on how to go about it; but always remember to pray for the salvation of those you witness to.
