Hope
HOPE Hope is a word not often used in the Christian faith like its counterparts, Love and Faith. Meanwhile the Christian faith is also centered on hope. We may need to look at ‘hope’ here with the eyes of perseverance. Pernam Percy Paul sang a song which says ‘don’t give up, its not over; when you give up that’s when it is over; hold unto the Lord and trouble not your heart; even when you fail it is not over’.
Many men have committed suicide because they do not have hope of meeting a better life ahead; whereas a song writer said, where there is life there is hope. These ones terminated their own lives because they did not have hope of overcoming their present predicament. Though it is not easy to hope in the face of hopelessness, but it is a quality that will get us to our destination. The bible says that Abraham, against hope believed in hope that he would be the father of many Nations. The situation of having a child from Sarah at that age for Abraham seemed hopeless to him, which he acknowledged; but he still believed in hope and persevered (not giving up on the promise until it came to pass). We may exercise faith that God would do a thing for us; but if that thing is not done for years, what will sustain our vision is hope.
A man that is struggling with a particular sin has the tendency of giving up after doing all he knows best to overcome, yet without result; but hope will make Him to understand that there is always light at the end of the tunnel; therefore he shouldn’t give up in his struggle against sin. Another man who has written an exam several times would need hope to focus on what he intends to achieve, so that he does not stop until he has gotten what he wants. In life there will always be challenges and things that will want to deem or even blind our vision; nevertheless, however dark the tunnel may be, let us still hope that there must be light at the end of it. You shouldn’t commit suicide because all your possessions disappeared in one day.
The man Job who suffered same said that there is hope for a tree even when it is cut that at the scent of water it will spring up again. You will definitely spring up again. You can’t strangle yourself because a man or a woman jilted you, or even if several of them have jilted you. You still have a better life ahead of you, and you must see the picture of a better life in your mind to be able to have focus. Always have the picture of the best in your mind regardless of your present situations. As a normal man, your present predicament can totally blind your eyes to the future; but my words to you today is that you don’t stop confessing (professing) to a better future even when your heart seemed not to agree with the confession of your mouth as a result of what you may be going through. And I will like to end by saying that before long, you will realize the reality of the confession of your lips. God bless you as you hope for a better future in thi s world and eternal life with Christ.
